Virtual Machines

A virtual machine (VM) is essentially a software version of a physical computer. It works just like a real machine, equipped with its own CPU, memory, storage, and network connections. You can think of it as a computer running inside another computer.

VMs operate using special software called a hypervisor. This hypervisor creates a virtual hardware environment, letting you install almost any operating system you choose. For home users, VMs are incredibly useful because they’re completely separate from your main computer. This means you can safely experiment with new software or settings without risking your “real” system.
